Author, Jenifer LeClair, sailing

the schooner Timberwind, in

Eggemoggin Reach, off the

coast of Maine.

AUTHOR'S BIO:
Jenifer LeCair has been an avid sailor since age 17. Over the past 13 years, her adventures aboard the Maine windjammers have taken her through pea soup fog and high seas. She has helped raise and furl many sails and taken her turn at the wheel. She has sailed to remote islands in the Gulf of Maine, and been aboard the winning ship in the Great Schooner Race off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts. She has stood middle-of-the-night deck watch under a full moon while sailing back to Maine, and she has been on deck during a gale off the coast of New Brunswick. In "Rigged for Murder" Jenifer brings all these experiences to the fore in her descriptions of the sea and the ship, Maine Wind. Maine’s coastal regions are also vividly evoked in her very readable first novel. The author prefers not to belabor the sailing aspect of her book, though, as she believes readers want a balance of many elements in a mystery novel. Ms. LeClair has a BA in English literature and has been writing for 15 years. She has two grown children and lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she is currently working on the next novel in her Windjammer Mystery Series. She is available to speak to your book club by phone.

FROM THE AUTHOR:
If you like mystery novels set in out of the way places that give you a glimpse of a different style of life, you'll love Rigged For Murder. Set on an island in the Gulf of Maine, Rigged gives readers a feel for the nautical culture that governs so much of life in Maine. From the great wooden sailing ships to the daily business of hauling lobster traps, Rigged for Murder is filled with many factual details about the sailing and lobstering lifestyles. On top of all this there's an intriguing mystery to unravel here, complete with all the quirky characters you'd expect to find in such a story. For adventure buffs there's a large sailing ship caught in a Maine gale. For Cozy Mystery buffs, there's a lovely old Maine Bed and Breakfast where the sailors take refuge from the storm. And for romance buffs there's a budding love affair between Detective Brie Beaumont and Captain John DuLac. I've put something in here for all of you. I hope you will enjoy Rigged For Murder and watch for my next book in the Windjammer Mystery Series.
