Author's Bio

Author Sailing Timberwind off coast of Maine

Jenifer LeClair sailing schooner Timberwind in Eggemoggin Reach off the coast of Maine.

Jenifer LeClair has been an avid sailor since age 17. Over the past 20 years, her adventures aboard the Maine windjammers have taken her through pea soup fog and high seas. She has helped raise and furl many sails and has taken her turn at the wheel. Her voyages have taken her to remote islands in the Gulf of Maine, to the coast of Nova Scotia and the town of Lunenburg, and to the waters of New Brunswick where she and her shipmates were once caught in a gale while making for Campobello Island. Jenifer has been aboard the winning schooner, American Eagle, during the Esperanto Cup Race off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts. One of her favorite experiences aboard the windjmammers is standing middle of the night watch under a full moon while sailing back to Maine.

In her Windjammer Mystery Series. Jenifer LeClair brings all these experiences to the fore in her descriptions of the sea and the ship, Maine Wind. Maine’s coastal regions are also vividly evoked in her very readable novels. The author prefers not to belabor the sailing aspect of her books as she knows readers want a balance of many elements in a mystery novel. Ms. LeClair has a BA in English literature and has been writing for 30 years. She has two grown children and lives in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, where she is currently working on the next novel in her Windjammer Mystery Series.

From the Author

If you like mystery novels set in out of the way places that give you a glimpse of a different style of life, you'll love the Windjammer Mystery Series. Set on fictional islands in the Gulf of Maine, my novels give readers a feel for the maritime culture that governs so much of life in Maine. From the great wooden sailing ships to the daily business of hauling lobster traps, my books are filled with many factual details about sailing, lobstering, and Maine's history. But first and foremost, there's always an intriguing mystery to unravel, complete with all the quirky, interesting characters one would expect to find in such a story.

Please email me at: info@windjammermysteries.com to request a book club visit in the greater St. Paul / Minneapolis area, or to let me know how you like the series. I love to hear from my readers.
